What is the RLSS and IQL?
RLSS: The Royal Lifesaving Society is the leading drowning prevention charity in the United Kingdom.
IQL: Institute of Qualified Lifeguard is the professional qualification arm of the RLSS dealing with the National Pool Lifeguard and First Aid Qualifications
Do I need to be able to swim?
Anyone of any swimming ability is welcome, however it is recommended that you can confidently swim 50 metre to gain the most out of the awards
What kind of training do the instructors have?
All of our instructors are RLSS instructor qualified. Paul and Adam are also Trainer-Assessors certified for the delivery of professional qualifications including the NPLQ.
What is the difference between NPLQ and NRASTC?
The NPLQ or National Pool Lifeguard Qualification is aimed for individuals who wish to attain a high standard qualification to work in the leisure industry as on of the most essential members of the team.
The NRASTC or National Rescue Award for Teachers and Coaches is aimed at individuals who teach or coach swimmers in a structure session such as swimming lessons, club training sessions and even fitness classes. The qualification is not suitable for people who undertake pool supervision as part of their duties and would require the completion of the NPLQ.
In the fitness session, we run a fitness training session for those wishing to improve their overall fitness or learn lifesaving sport skills or provide a space for swimmers to practise there own swimming
Do we have to attend every week?
Will I be charged if I miss a session?
What sort of training occurs in the fitness session?
All sessions are pay as you go so no need to worry if you can not attend weekly!
No, all sessions are pay as you go so no charges for missed sessions.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes! The more the merrier! For their enjoyment, we do recommend they can confidently swim 50m.
How much does it cost if I want to stay for an award session and the fitness session?
If you wish to attend an award session and the fitness session you need to pay £5 at the start of the first session
